Wow.  Try to explain this to a kid with an IPhone

Burt Fisher, K1OIK,  makes a contact from his 50 year old station, the Heathkit DX-40 and Hallicrafters S-76 receiver.

  1. Saw the video – brilliant for a guy like me whos oldest radio was a FRG7700….all that work.

    We have come a long way but the older guys deserve a lot of respect for working contacts all over the world with that stuff.

    • Scott – It was hard back then. Didn’t John F Kennedy say when he announced the mission to the moon… “We do these things not because they are easy – but that they are hard.

      Back then to use Ham Radio was a more a matter of committment than passing interest
